Residents in the vicinity of Sutters Run Lane are gearing up for inconveniences as a result of impending construction work. The Town of Huntersville announced that a required Charlotte Water sewer line installation will prompt traffic alterations along Sam Furr Road and shut down the entrance to the Hamptons neighborhood on Sutters Run Lane starting April 14. Drivers can anticipate a slight shift in eastbound traffic on Sam Furr Road but will retain two travel lanes in that direction.
The necessary work is being executed by contractors working for North State Development, with project management by general contractor Elford. Charlotte Water will oversee the project to ensure all work meets their standards before integrating the new infrastructure into their system. As the operation requires extensive excavation, "there is no practical way to safely shore up and cover the trench to reopen the road at end of daily operations," the contractors explained, detailed by the Town of Huntersville.
For the duration of the construction, which is outlined to last between eight to 10 weeks, the entrance to Sutters Run Lane will remain closed beyond working hours. A detour will redirect residents via the Greenfarm Road entrance, complete with posted signage to guide the local traffic. In an effort to communicate transparently, the developer has been in touch with the HOA and those living in the affected area.
Adding to the mobility constraints, the sidewalk on Sam Furr Road from Sutters Run Lane to the east end of the construction zone will also be closed. This measure, the contractors insist, is to protect both the workers and pedestrians. The teams will operate Monday through Friday, with work hours set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. While some disruptions are unavoidable, the detailed planning indicates a structured effort to mitigate the overall impact on the community's daily flow.
