In a disturbing incident of violence in Inglewood, Javier Ibarra, a 41-year-old local resident, was viciously attacked outside his home, potentially in an act fueled by racial hatred. KTLA reports that the assault, which took place early in the morning on April 15, was recorded on surveillance video which shows a man, wearing a green tracksuit and mask, sprinting towards Ibarra and striking him in the head as he opened a gate outside his residence on the 200 block of West Hyde Park Boulevard.
According to KTLA, the attacker hurled racial slurs at Ibarra during the beating, with Ibarra recalling the man shouting, “You f****** Mexican! I hate you!” before commencing his violent tirade. Ibarra's wife, who heard her husband's screams for help, stepped outside momentarily but retreated to record the assailant, who took off with Ibarra’s house keys and fled the scene in a car thought to be a mid-2000s Chevrolet Malibu.
The Inglewood Police Department, which is investigating this incident as a potential hate crime, has provided a description of the suspect as a male between 30 to 40 years old, around 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. Moreover, CBS Los Angeles details that the suspect has distinctive features, including a tattoo on his stomach and a mole between his left eye and nose.
