Inkster police are investigating after a man and woman in their thirties were found shot inside a parked U-Haul on Saturday, according to WWJ Newsradio 950. The vehicle, possibly stolen, was found around 12:45 p.m. in the driveway of a home on the 3000 block of Inkster Road.
The identities of the victims remain undisclosed while police seek to notify next of kin, and authorities highlighted that no arrests have been made concerning the shootings, in the statement provided by Inkster Police, they requested that "the community to avoid spreading unverified information, as it can hinder ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary distress...," a concern that arises amidst growing unrest as Inkster grapples with this tragedy on the heels of a separate incident in Detroit where three bodies were found in a burned vehicle, as per WWJ Newsradio 950.
Consolidating reports from ClickOnDetroit and Detroit News, the U-Haul's theft status was confirmed, and the police were asking community members with any relevant information regarding the incident to come forward and contact Michigan State Police or Inkster Police Department directly or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Police and K-9 units searched the area where the bodies were found, and the investigation is still ongoing. Inkster and Michigan State Police are working together to find out what happened, and officials have said this case is not connected to the recent disappearance of a 17-year-old girl from the same area, as reported by WWJ Newsradio 950.
