For teens pondering a career in public safety, it's a rare opportunity to get an inside look at police work without the drama of a prime-time crime show.
High schoolers from grades 9 through 12 are invited to sign up for a five-day crash course in all things law enforcement. This isn't your average summer camp – these youngsters will get to quickly learn a range of skills from crime scene analysis to firearms safety. Deputy Chief Mark Ozaki emphasized the program's benefits, telling Kaua‘i Police Department press releases, "Beyond learning about public safety, participants will also cultivate life skills in areas like leadership, communication, and teamwork."
Registration is officially open and on a tight deadline for a May 9 cutoff. With limited space, interested parties should move quickly. Applicants will go through a selection process, with notifications sent to those picked to join the ranks. Registrations are to be submitted via an online form ready for eager parents or guardians to complete on behalf of their aspiring officers.
