Kenneth Amedola Olugbenga, 29, was sentenced to over 13 years in federal prison for his role as a leader of the Kennedy Street Crew, a drug trafficking organization. The sentence includes four years of supervised release and an order to forfeit $374,598 gained from illegal activities, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Olugbenga pleaded guilty on September 20, 2024, to conspiracy to distribute cocaine, cocaine base, and marijuana, and to possessing a firearm related to drug trafficking. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, he used commercial flights from California to transport drugs and established fake businesses to make the operation appear legitimate. One of the businesses was used to get a pandemic-related Economic Injury Disaster Loan, which was then used to buy more drugs. He was part of the Kennedy Street Crew, which operated in an 11-block area of Kennedy Street in Northwest Washington, D.C. Olugbenga served as a main supplier and money launderer, moving over $1.8 million through a casino and helping manage drug transportation for several years.
Metropolitan Police Department officers conducted 15 controlled purchases from Olugbenga, totaling 52.3 grams of cocaine base along Kennedy Street. When he did not have certain drugs, he referred customers to other members of the Kennedy Street Crew network. He also tracked the operation’s finances, including drug costs and losses from law enforcement activity. The case involved the Metropolitan Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, IRS–Criminal Investigation, and ATF, and focused on disrupting drug activity in Northwest Washington, D.C., as stated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
