Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are currently investigating a hit-and-run collision that tragically took the life of a 28-year-old woman named Kelly Calderon. The incident occurred on Tuesday, around midnight, near the intersection of Figueroa Street and Colden Avenue. According to the LAPD, the unidentified suspect was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street when they struck Calderon, who was riding her scooter and crossing the street westbound.

The driver involved did not stop to provide aid or identify themselves and continued northbound, fleeing the scene. The CBS Los Angeles report noted that the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced Calderon deceased at the scene. The authorities have withheld any further identification pending notification of her next of kin.

A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for this crime. This reward is part of a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund established by the City Council in 2015 to encourage community members to come forward with relevant information regarding such incidents.

Officials are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the collision to contact Officer Lopez Del Haro, South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500. Tips can also be provided anonymously by contacting the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or by using the "P3 Tips" mobile application and selecting the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers as their local program, according to information obtained by the LAPD.
