Las Vegas will hold an induction ceremony at the Historic Westside Legacy Park on April 19, at 8:30 a.m. The park, created through the collaboration of the City of Las Vegas and Clark County, honors local leaders for their contributions in business, education, civil service, and social advocacy.

The upcoming ceremony at the park on 1600 Mount Mariah Drive will feature City of Las Vegas Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong and Clark County Commission Vice Chairman William McCurdy II as speakers. The event will honor the 2025 inductees, including Willia Mae Chaney, recognized posthumously for her 50 years of service in child care and beauty education, and Porter Lee Troutman Jr., the first Black person to earn a doctorate from Northern Arizona University, who became a professor emeritus at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, specializing in diversity and multicultural education.

Eva Martin will be recognized for running three McDonald's restaurants, mentoring young people and minorities, and serving on various boards. Beatrice Dyess will be honored as the city's first Black female police officer and for her continued work in ministries and education after retirement. Faith Leggett will be celebrated for her 37 years of teaching and coaching in Las Vegas. The honorees were chosen through community nominations and a panel of volunteers. The Historic Westside Legacy Park includes green spaces, walking trails, and public artwork that reflect the area's history. More details are available on the City of Las Vegas Legacy Park page.
