The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department started the 25th Annual Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Relay Run at Majestic Park to honor officers who have died in the line of duty. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Andy Walsh spoke at the event, saying, "our fallen officers and their families are never forgotten—and that we stand beside them every step of the way," as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The relay covers a distance of 434 miles, serving as a tribute to 157 officers who have died in the line of duty. Runners pass the baton along the route, which represents the connection between officers who serve and protect. The event honors these officers, with their names permanently displayed on the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, as stated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on their Facebook page, the department recently honored Officer Clark Anthony Wooldridge, who died in the line of duty on August 14, 1979. Officer Wooldridge was involved in a collision while responding to a report of a fight caused by a traffic accident. His patrol car overturned and became engulfed in flames; he was pulled from the wreckage by fellow officers and a citizen but succumbed to his injuries two days later. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department gathered with Wooldridge's family to unveil a new headstone, symbolizing their enduring remembrance. The department's Facebook post emphasized, "We never forget our fallen."
