Firefighters successfully extinguished a blaze in Koreatown last evening that threatened a residential building. At approximately 8:29 P.M., the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 101 S Kenmore Av, where a garage was reported fully engulfed in flames. The fire was threatening a two-story center hall apartment building adjacent to the site. Crews entered offensive mode to combat the inferno.
According to the official LAFD alert, initial units arrived on the scene to find the garage in full blaze, with the potential to spread to nearby structures. The attached carport and nearby propane tanks posed an additional risk. The fire department reported that the firefighters on scene worked to prevent the fire's spread to these areas, successfully protecting them.
The LAFD achieved a full knockdown of the fire within a remarkably short 15 minutes, as noted in a follow-up alert. The report indicated that the firefighters' prompt actions "prevented fire spread to an attached carport, as well as protecting exposed propane tanks on scene." This rapid response helped avert what could have been a more severe incident affecting the residential building and its occupants.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths linked to the incident.
