A hiker's trail trek turned into an emergency evacuation after a snake left its mark on him in the rustic reaches of Griffith Park's Toyon Trail. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), along with L.A. City Park Rangers coordinated a ground and air rescue mission to aid the man. Details furnished by the LAFD confirm the man was hiking on Thursday when the incident occurred. The bitten hiker was transported by the Park Rangers to the Toyon Helispot, prepared for an aerial relay to more comprehensive care.
The patient was reportedly in fair condition, according to Brian Humphrey of the LAFD.
In the wake of the rescue, visitors to Griffith Park are urged to stay alert, particularly given that the warmer months tend to see increased snake activity.
