Residents of Macomb County are being rallied for their input on the area's housing landscape. The Macomb County Regional Housing Partnership is initiating a substantial outreach campaign, looking to gather insights to shape the Community and Housing Needs Assessment. The assertive push is to glean a sharper understanding of housing needs and direct a strategic course for housing market decisions.

The survey at the heart of this endeavor is open to every resident in Macomb County, according to details shared by the Macomb County Department of Health and Community Services. It's an effort to map out the current state of affairs, and, the challenges that citizens are facing at home. And that's not all, the partnership has put together a series of 24 community engagement events to create room for dialogue between the public, stakeholders, policymakers, and anyone else with stakes in the grand housing narrative of the county.

The first batch of events kicks off in May with 12 gatherings between May 6th and 8th, while the remaining 12 are timestamped for mid-July. Andrew Cox, Director/Health Officer of the Macomb County Department of Health and Community Services, stressed the vital nature of these sessions, "Public and stakeholder input is essential to helping us understanding the county’s housing ecosystem and defining a strategic action plan," he told Macomb County's news announcement.

Dr. David Boston, the head of Amarach Planning Services, is guiding the assessment. Together with local planners, "The use of the Community and Housing Survey, used in tandem with the in-person engagement sessions will provide invaluable information that will result in well-informed strategies and a clear, actionable plan for the Macomb Regional Housing Partnership," he insisted during Macomb County's announcement. Spalding DeDecker, a local planning, engineering, and surveying outfit, plays a supporting role.
