Financial literacy is one of the cornerstones of independence and stability, and Macomb County residents are about to have a prime opportunity to enhance theirs. In concert with Michigan State University Extension and the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), Macomb Community Action has revealed plans for the 2025 Show Me the Money Day.

Scheduled for April 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event is designed to provide an informative array of workshops and resources at no cost. Free and low-cost financial assistance materials coupled with financial literacy workshops aim to inject practical advice directly into attendees' personal finances. According to the Macomb County announcement, offerings for this year include subjects like "Raising Money-Smart Kids," "Let's Talk Credit," "Home Buyer Education," and even planning meals on a budget.

Building on the financial base, more than 10 vendors are set to be available, ready to disseminate information on a range of personal finance topics. Andrew Cox, Director/Health Officer of Macomb County Health and Community Services, emphasized the broader significance of the initiative. "Empowering individuals with financial literacy is not just about managing money; it is about unlocking opportunities, building confidence, and securing a future of stability and growth,” Cox stated, per the county's press release. He further explained that equipping individuals with the necessary financial knowledge today paves the way for a more robust and adaptable community in the future.

Attendees, regardless of age, are encouraged by Scott to take advantage of the occasion and engage with experts who can offer strategies to manage their hard-earned money better.
