Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt has introduced Council File #241915 to address the paper ballot shortages at Milwaukee polling stations during the recent Spring General Election. The file invites the executive director of the City of Milwaukee Election Commission to provide details on the issue and its impact on races such as the state Supreme Court contest, according to the City of Milwaukee.
Alderwoman Pratt's initiative is supported by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr., and Alderwoman Sharlen P. Moore, who have all co-sponsored the file. The alderpersons are requesting an explanation for the ballot shortfall that caused challenges for constituents in casting their votes. The file will be discussed at the Judiciary and Legislation Committee meeting on April 14 at City Hall, as reported by the City of Milwaukee.
A meeting will be held at 301-B, City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. to discuss ballot shortages in high-profile elections. The City of Milwaukee's Council File #241915 will examine the “General Election as well as the processes by which the necessary number of ballots is estimated, ballots are distributed, and possible shortages are reported and responded to.” The meeting seeks to identify solutions to prevent such shortages in the future. Residents are welcome to attend and observe the committee’s discussion.
