Residents in the Milwaukee area should prepare for a mix of weather conditions this week. According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI, today has seen scattered showers early in the morning, giving way to mostly cloudy skies with a high near 51 degrees. The gusty northwest winds have been blowing hard and are expected to continue throughout the day.
For those planning to venture out, the wind chill has made it feel more like 28°F, so be sure to bundle up. The NWS advises that the considerable northwest winds are to gust up to 35 mph. Tonight, the skies are predicted to gradually clear, and temperatures will dip to around 31. Despite the clear skies, the wind will persist but with less severity, ranging between 5 to 15 mph.
Looking ahead towards the rest of the week, tomorrow promises sunshine with highs edging to near 47 degrees and a calmer northwest wind becoming southeast in the afternoon. But the weather is set to take another turn by Thursday afternoon, with a 30 percent chance of showers, increasing to a 90 percent chance by the evening, including potential thunderstorms. The anticipated rainfall ranges between a quarter and half an inch.
Friday will likely continue to see shower activity and possibly a thunderstorm as well, with partly sunny conditions and a high near 66 degrees. As the weekend moves in, the unstable conditions are expected to carry over with more chance of showers and thunderstorms before the week comes to a complete close. Temperatures on Saturday will hover around 51 degrees, while Sunday sees a 30 percent chance of more showers and a high once again near 51.
The NWS has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for east central Wisconsin, south central Wisconsin, and southeast Wisconsin. The warning highlights that "Gusty northwest winds to 30 to 35 mph will continue today," and "there are chances for thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday" with some storms that "could be strong." Currently, spotters have not been activated, but locals should stay updated on the evolving weather conditions as the week progresses.
