Earlier today, a vehicular incident disrupted the morning in Milwaukee when a car ran a stop sign and collided with a school bus at the intersection of North 20th and West Galena Streets. According to FOX6Now, the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. and caused the school bus to crash into a nearby building.
On this bus were three children and their driver; by a sheer slice of fortune, none were harmed seriously enough to warrant a hospital visit. The Milwaukee police revealed in a statement obtained by WISN that the driver of the vehicle—a 24-year-old whose name has not yet been disclosed—was transported to the hospital with injuries that, while significant, were not life-threatening.
As the sun rose higher and the city shook off the chill of the night, the intersection remained cordoned off while crews worked diligently to clear the wreckage. The disruption brought about not just a physical obstruction, but a ripple of concern across the local community. A statement obtained by WTMJ confirmed that prior to hitting the building, the collision also sent the bus careening through a fence and into a tree.
The Milwaukee Police Department has not yet indicated whether charges will be filed against the driver. The accident remains under investigation.
