The National Weather Service in Raleigh, North Carolina, has issued a forecast that sees the region grappling with a brief period of potential showers followed by a stretch of clear, sunny days. According to the NWS forecast, Raleigh is currently experiencing a few clouds in the sky with a temperature standing at 67°F, humidity at 59%, and westward wind speeds clocking at 8 mph.
The weather outlook for today includes a minor chance of showers between 1pm and 2pm. However, the skies are expected to clear up by the afternoon, with temperatures peaking near 72°F and wind speeds ranging from 8 to 15 mph, including possible gusts up to 26 mph. A report from the NWS indicates that the odds of precipitation are slim at 20%.
Tonight, Raleigh residents can look forward to clear skies with a low temperature around 45°F, while winds are predicted to remain steady from the west at 5 to 8 mph. Gusts may reach speeds as high as 18 mph. The forthcoming days promise continual sunshine with highs hovering in the upper 60s to mid-80s and minimal cloud cover, ensuring a warm and pleasant week ahead.
However, the NWS has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook that warns of windy conditions expected to develop this afternoon. According to the NWS, "Winds will shift to the west-northwest behind a cold front between 700 AM and 1100 AM." These winds are expected to blow between 15 and 25 mph, gusting around 35 mph. The combination of these winds with low relative humidity of 20 to 30 percent during the afternoon creates "an increased fire danger risk," particularly in areas that have not received substantial rainfall recently.
For the period from Wednesday through Monday, no hazardous weather is anticipated. Spotters, individuals who are part of an organized network volunteering to report significant weather phenomena, have been told that activation is not expected at this time. Residents should enjoy the clear skies and gentle breezes as the week unfolds while remaining mindful of the short-term wind advisory today.
