In a rapid succession of arrests that unfolded over a mere half hour yesterday, the Oak Creek Police Department apprehended three individuals on charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). The incidents, occurring close to one another both in time and location, have led the department to reiterate warnings about the seriousness with which they regard drunk-driving offenses.

The string of arrests commenced at a local gas station, following a dispatch to police regarding a fight inside a vehicle. The officers present determined that the driver was operating under the influence and proceeded with an arrest. During this activity, a separate and unrelated report drew attention to a vehicle stranded on railroad tracks nearby on Drexel Avenue, WISN reported. The operator of this second vehicle was also found to be intoxicated and was detained. Adding to the already unusual sequence of events, friends of the second driver arrived, intending to provide transportation. However, teeming with irony, this third individual behind the wheel registered a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit and was taken into custody as well.

The Oak Creek Police Department, in statements obtained by FOX 6 Now, highlight the consequences of impaired driving, citing the over 13,000 lives lost to drunk drivers in the previous year. Oak Creek police's message was crystal clear: "If OCPD officers find you operating while intoxicated, you will be arrested." They urged the public to plan for a safe return home before initiating any drinking, endorsing options like ridesharing services, sober drivers, and other transport methods to prevent the recurrence of such preventable incidents.

The Oak Creek Police Department not only aims to halt intoxicated driving through enforcement but also through prevention. As part of their broader agenda, they encourage citizens to make responsible choices that respect the value of every life on the road, according to a WISN report.
