Oak Creek police officers arrested three people on charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), all within a succinct 30-minute timeframe on the morning of April 6, as reported by FOX6 News. The first individual encountered by the police was the instigator of a fight inside a commercial motor vehicle at a gas station. Their state of inebriation prompted an arrest.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, Oak Creek officers were dispatched to an area near the railroad tracks on Drexel Avenue. There, they arrested a second driver who was found impaired, according to WISN. As this scene unfolded, a friend of the second driver, in an ill-considered attempt to assist, arrived with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit and became the third individual taken into custody for OWI.
The Oak Creek Police Department emphasized their zero tolerance policy toward intoxicated driving in a release, as highlighted by TMJ4. Tragically, police noted that in 2022, there were 13,424 lives lost due to drink drivers, underscoring each incident as a preventable tragedy. "If OCPD officers find you operating while intoxicated, you will be arrested," police said in the release. "Hopefully, that happens before anyone is hurt or killed."
