
An Ozaukee County Sheriff's deputy intercepted a significant amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop early last week. The routine stop quickly escalated into a drug bust when the deputy noticed signs of illicit activity. According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, the stop occurred last Monday at around 12:52 a.m. on Hwy 33 near I-43, where the driver and two passengers claimed they were returning from Milwaukee.
Following the deputy's suspicion, developed during the initial contact, a search was conducted, revealing individual bags of methamphetamine within the vehicle. Continuing the search with a routine yet intent-laden scrutiny, the deputies discovered additional meth baggies concealed in the driver’s pants. "A total of 5 baggies and 168.2 grams of meth laced with fentanyl were seized," detailed the post by the sheriff’s office shared on social media.
The driver faces charges of possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to deliver, along with a probation hold, and is currently held on a $50,000 cash bond. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office emphasized the bust as part of their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the county, highlighting the discovery of fentanyl, which is linked to rising overdose deaths.
