The Professional Bowlers Association brought the strikes and spares to Waukesha over the weekend, showcasing some of the sport's most recognizable talent during the All-Star festivities on both yesterday and today. Top-level bowlers, including the notable Jason Belmonte and Tommy Jones, made appearances at Foxx View Lanes, much to the delight of local enthusiasts. Fox6Now reported Tommy Jones expressing his fondness for the Milwaukee area: "It's great to be back in the Milwaukee area. The people are great here at Foxx View Lanes," and emphasizing the regional passion for the game: "Bowling is big up here, so it's great to be back in the area."
"While the weekend was certainly a celebration of the sport's present, it was also a nod to its evolving history. The once predictable method of delivering a bowling ball has now dramatically expanded to include a variety of techniques. Notably, players like Belmonte have disrupted the status quo with their two-handed approach — a style once necessary for children too weak to hold a bowling ball — now a legitimate technique to quickly muster strikes. The PBA's official website referenced the seismic change brought about in November 2011 by two international bowlers, Belmonte and Finland's Osku Palermaa, both of whom have cemented their legacy in the sport.
Belmonte, in particular, has a resume to envy with a 32-time tour winner and a record 15-time major champion title to his name. He's also been honored as the Player of the Year seven times. His participation over the weekend added an extra layer of excitement for fans and fellow competitors alike. According to a WISN report, Belmonte's achievements are a testament to his dominance in a sport that continues to evolve and attract new talent and audiences.
"The All-Star Weekend was not only an exhibition of talent but also a showcase of the industry's technological advancements. QubicaAMF's EDGE String pinspotter powered the event, demonstrating how technology has become an integral part of the game — not only to operate the lanes effectively but also to enhance the experience for players and spectators. This fusion of talent and technology highlights the PBA's commitment to evolving the sport for future generations, ensuring that the game continues to thrive as players adapt their approaches.
