The Shapiro Administration has teamed up with PennDOT, the Department of Health, CORE, and the Gift of Life Donor Program during National Donate Life Month to highlight the importance of organ donation. PennDOT Deputy Secretary Kara Templeton reminded the public that individuals can choose to become organ donors at any time, not just during license renewal, as per the official Pennsylvania government website.

The campaign also coincides with National Donate Life Blue & Green Day, when people are encouraged to wear blue and green to raise awareness about organ donation. Templeton emphasized that becoming an organ donor can save lives and improve the quality of life for those waiting for transplants.

Organ donation advocates, including Brenda Alton from Pennsylvania's Organ Donation Advisory Board and individuals like Sarah Drummond and Lois Angelisanti, shared personal stories to highlight the impact of organ donation. Angelisanti, a heart recipient, is one example of how a donated organ can change a life. Deputy Secretary for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Cindy Findley also reminded the public that they can register as organ donors at any time, not just during a driver's license or ID card renewal.
