Philly, brace yourselves for a wet and dreary end to the week with the National Weather Service in Philadelphia forecasting a mix of rain and showers starting from late tonight. The city's overcast skies this morning at a chilly 42°F are merely a prelude to the main event, according to the NWS update, there's a "slight chance of showers after 1pm" with a modest high of 54 expected and winds edging up from the south at 5 to 15 mph.
The chance of precipitation ramps up to 80% tonight as showers are forecasted, mainly after 1 am with the temperature holding steady at around 42, the winds this time blowing from the southeast around 10 mph, tonight's weather may be a predictable usher to the aquatic melody that is Friday’s forecast which sings of rain and gusty eastern winds. Friday will not only bring more rain with a 90% chance but also comes with gusts as high as 20 mph, with high temperatures hovering near 51 degrees. "New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible," as reported by the NWS.
Unfortunately for those with weekend plans, the pattern persists into Saturday, where showers are likely, keeping the skies gray, and temperatures tame at around 48 degrees. Come Saturday night, the chance of showers drops slightly to 40%, providing a glimmer of hope for drier moments this weekend, yet with no significant improvement in the nightly low, which is set again around 41, light rainfall, still a possibility, with the forecast calling for less than a tenth of an inch.
A reprieve seems to be in sight with the prediction of mostly cloudy conditions on Sunday and a much-appreciated rise in temperature to near 59. "Partly cloudy, with a low around 42," is what Sunday night holds while a warmer transition into the working week begins, with Monday promising partly sunny skies and a high near 68, though temperatures at night will likely not fall much below 52. Midweek looks to balance out with partly sunny conditions on Wednesday and highs reaching up around a more comfortable 56, the NWS provides an ever-so-slight respite from the rain to close out the period.
