
An incident in the early hours of the morning in Pittsburgh's Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood has left a man seriously injured after an attempted carjacking incident turned violent. The victim, who was shot in the hand and thigh, sought help at the Pittsburgh Police Zone 5 station around 1:15 a.m. as he arrived there with gunshot wounds, WTAE reported.
According to the victim's account, he was driving two men when one of them pulled out a gun near the intersection of Gladefield Street and Oberlin Street and tried to hijack the vehicle. The victim told police he resisted, and the man opened fire, according to a statement detailed by WPXI. The victim managed to escape and drive himself to the police station despite his injuries.
Once at the station, officers provided aid, applying tourniquets to the man's injuries until medics could transport him to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. WTAE notes that, as of the early morning, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.
