As Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium prepares to host the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship for the first time in over four decades, it's reportedly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year. According to CBS News Pittsburgh, approximately 50,000 fans are expected to fill the stands this weekend, with 26 million pounds of dirt transformed into a racer's paradise. Sean Brennen, Director of Public Relations for Monster Energy Supercross, highlighted the significance, saying, "This is gonna be special," and expressed excitement about the Pittsburgh stop on the tour.
The local talent pool will be represented by Pittsburgh natives Vinny Luhover and Brian "JR" Saunier. Saunier, returning to his roots, shared some insights with students at his alma mater, Hopewell Area High School. In an assembly, he emphasized the importance of passion and dedication, "This whole season, I was like I want to be healthy, at least and want to get to Pittsburgh," he stated, as per CBS News Pittsburgh. "And now being here, it's like, it eels so home to me."
Now, for those planning to attend, TribLive reported that the event will kick off with parking lots opening at 10 a.m. FanFest and qualifiers start at noon, and for those eager to snag some merchandise, booths will be available both inside and outside the venue. If you're driving, brace yourself—parking prices in the area vary, with some going as high as $80 at the Rivers Casino Garage. Tickets, although rapidly selling, are still available via Ticketmaster, ranging from $35 to $750, notably for resold tickets.
On the weather front, the conditions are expected to play a role in the dynamics of the race.
