Residents of Placer County have an opportunity to shape their community at the upcoming Discover & Discuss event. Scheduled for April 30 from 5-7:30 p.m., the event will take place at the North Tahoe Event Center, located at 8318 N Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach. This open-house forum is designed to provide information and gather public input on regional projects, including the addition of a housing solutions room to address local housing needs.

The event, which is free to the public, will allow attendees to engage with county staff and partners like Caltrans to discuss infrastructure upgrades, the Placer 2050 General Plan update, and emergency preparedness, among other initiatives. "This is our third installment of this community event and we’ve already seen it pay dividends," said Placer's Deputy CEO Stephanie Holloway, in a statement provided to SFist. Holloway highlighted the importance of such events for community engagement and feedback, as reported by Placer County.

District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson is expected to attend, offering residents a chance to directly interact with local government representatives. In addition, the county will promote its new Engage Placer community website, a platform showcasing projects and programs open for public contribution. This digital tool represents another avenue for residents to have their voices heard.

Ensuring accessibility, the county has partnered with the Sierra Community House to provide Spanish interpretation services and a childcare station, so that all members of the community can participate. The organizers have thought of nearly everything, even food and beverages will be provided to those who drop by. Acknowledging the event's inclusive nature, Holloway stated, "We make it a point to ensure our community members have quality time with our staff and partners to dive deeper into projects and programs and share their feedback," as per Placer County.
