Raleigh and Wake County have commenced construction on Parkside Apartments, a new housing development located at 1327 and 1329 Kent Road. The complex will feature 144 units designed for working families, offering access to nearby employment centers, educational institutions, and public services.
Parkside Apartments emerges from a confluence of city and county efforts and financial commitments, with Raleigh injecting approximately $6 million and Wake County contributing $5.7 million to transform the blueprint into bricks and mortar, information courtesy of a published report. Slated for completion in 2026, the apartment offering will range from one to three-bedroom setups designed for families with annual earnings spanning from 30% to 80% of the area's average income, this entails income brackets approximately between $35,100 and $93,600 for a family of four, effectively widening the brackets of affordability.
Reflecting on the acute needs of the low-income demographic, Parkside Apartments will reserve 65 units for households earning at or below half of the average income and a further 30% commited to those participating in specialized housing programs. Such allocations highlight a deliberate effort to address the disparities in housing accessibility. Moreover, residents can look forward to having access to a myriad of amenities, including a fitness center, playground, and community event space, according to details from the same Raleigh press release.
This project represents an effort to secure fair housing opportunities for citizens, assembling financial resources and political support. Authorities' involvement in the initiative may influence similar developments as the city’s skyline and civic landscape continue to evolve.
