Southwest winds will range from 11 to 16 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph. According to the National Weather Service, the chance of precipitation is 20 percent. By Sunday night, the likelihood of showers increases to 80 percent, mainly after 8 p.m., with new precipitation amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch possible.
Monday is expected to bring widespread rainfall, with the National Weather Service forecasting a 100% chance of showers and potential new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches. Rain is likely to taper off by Monday night, though showers may continue before 2 a.m., with temperatures dropping to a low around 44 degrees.
After the showers, Raleigh will see clear skies along with a sharp drop in temperatures Tuesday night. The NWS reports lows ranging from the upper 20s to mid-30s across parts of central North Carolina, creating the potential for frost or freeze.
