Two men have been taken into custody in Riverside County on suspicion of serious crimes, including torture and human trafficking. According to a report from KTLA, the Hemet Police Department effected the arrests earlier this week after an intense investigation initiated by a distressing incident at Hemet Global Medical Center on March 12.
The investigation began when a victim, whose identity is being protected, reported sexual abuse to the medical staff, prompting a response by local police officers. As stated in a Hemet Police Department Facebook post, "Investigators determined that the victim had been subjected to torture, sexual assault, and forced prostitution." A second victim was also identified, who reportedly suffered similar abuses at the hands of the suspects.
Through diligent detective work, two suspects, Davion Marshall and Travis Grisham, became the focus of the law enforcement inquiry. Their eventual arrest took place on Tuesday, conducted by Hemet Police Investigators with the assistance of Southwest City SWAT. The operation was a coordinated effort, capturing both suspects in the 300 block of South State Street in Hemet, as stated, without incident.
Marshall and Grisham now face the judicial system, booked on a litany of felonies, including human trafficking and torture. Their bail was set at $1 million each at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
