Adam Fitzgerald Williams, a 39-year-old man, is facing allegations of sexual crimes against multiple children after a tech-assisted investigation. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported that Google notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about newly uploaded Child Sexual Abuse Material on a Google account.
Williams was arrested at his home in Sacramento County on March 28, after an investigation linked him to a collection of Child Sexual Abuse Material images and thousands of artificially generated pictures. During the search of his residence, detectives found materials involving infants and children up to pubescent ages. Authorities are concerned that Williams, who had access to children in both California and Nevada, may have other victims yet to be identified. Williams is currently held at the Sacramento County Main Jail with a bail set at $1 million. His charges include lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, among other counts relating to the possession and production of child pornography. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance in locating potential victims.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, the investigation into Williams involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, Walnut Creek Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and ICAC units from the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force and the Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force and Google's Safety Team collaborated to detect, remove, and report Child Sexual Abuse Material.
