Penijamini Tuikubulau has been sentenced to 27 years in prison following a jury's verdict on charges of sexual assault and false imprisonment. The Sacramento District Attorney's Office reported that the conviction, issued on December 12, 2024, included two counts of oral copulation by force, one count of rape by force or fear, and false imprisonment. The jury found that Tuikubulau had planned the attack with sophistication.
On Monday, Judge Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Tuikubulau, taking into account his escalating criminal history and past prison stays. The Court also noted his poor conduct during post-release supervision. In March 2023, Tuikubulau responded to an online escort advertisement and lured the victim to his home, offering a consensual service for payment, according to the Sacramento District Attorney's Office.
Tuikubulau attacked a woman at his residence, forcing her into rape and oral copulation. After about an hour and a half, he released her, and she reported the assault to the authorities. Sacramento Police gathered evidence at Tuikubulau's home that supported her account. The investigation led to his conviction, with Deputy District Attorney Kate Martin handling the prosecution, as stated by the Sacramento District Attorney's Office.
