The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is actively addressing a spike in fentanyl-related overdoses in the Needles area, with deputies detaining a 39-year-old local resident on suspicion of drug trafficking. According to the department's press release, the incident took place late on April 10, when Arthur Wilder was pulled over by deputies from the Colorado River Station during a traffic stop linked to the narcotics investigation.
During the stop, authorities discovered a significant amount of what they believe to be fentanyl, along with a sum of U.S. currency in Wilder's possession. The investigation subsequently extended to Wilder's home, where additional evidence was quickly seized. Wilder, labeled as a suspected fentanyl dealer, was arrested on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance for sale.
A subsequent search of Wilder's residence yielded even more material tied to the case. The suspect, who was also wanted for a prior DUI-related offense, is now behind bars at the Colorado River Station jail. His bail has been set at $40,000.00 as he awaits a court hearing.
