Last week, San Bernardino County saw an uptick in police action as the local Sheriff's Department conducted "Operation Consequences," a targeted crime suppression operation that spanned multiple locations and resulted in numerous arrests and seizures. According to an official statement released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the operation took place from April 21 to Sunday and resulted in eight felony arrests and two misdemeanor arrests, with 20 firearms, including seven ghost guns, being confiscated.
The operation was a coordinated effort across various units such as the Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, alongside federal and regional law enforcement partners. They have all stepped up their presence significantly, officials say, and those involved acted upon serving four search warrants in Apple Valley, Loma Linda, Ontario, and Moreno Valley, areas that have been pinpointed as significant for gang activity and illegal arms possession.
Funded by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, this crackdown is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving the quality of life by rooting out violent crime and addressing gang activity. The seized items included suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, highlighting the operation's broader focus on disrupting not just violent crime but also drug trafficking within the county.
Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus has emphasized the importance of this operation as a means to disrupt and dismantle criminal gangs, to curb violent crimes which have a detrimental impact on community safety and and to target those manufacturing and trafficking illegal firearms, in a larger months-long effort to address these pressing issues. The diverse collaboration of law enforcement agencies participating in Operation Consequences is a testament to the severity with which San Bernardino County is approaching the matter, aiming to produce tangible results and meaningful change.
Residents in the affected areas can expect to see ongoing efforts from law enforcement as Operation Consequences continues over the coming months.
