San Bernardino County authorities concluded a week-long crime suppression initiative, "Operation Consequences," resulting in 99 arrests and multiple weapons and narcotics seizures. Conducted from April 14 to April 20, 2025, the operation was a joint effort led by the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division and the Specialized Enforcement Division, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
According to a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the operation led to 36 felony arrests and 63 misdemeanor arrests. Officers executed four search warrants in the cities of Rialto and San Bernardino, focusing on known gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. On April 18, authorities seized 13 firearms—including an untraceable ghost gun—and more than one pound of suspected narcotics.
Officials cited California’s recently enacted Proposition 36, the Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act, as instrumental in the operation. The new law provides updated Penal and Health and Safety Codes that allow for enhanced sentencing and restrict cite-and-release procedures. The measure was applied in two arrests during the operation.
Funding for Operation Consequences was made available through the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, which allocated resources for expanded crime suppression efforts. Authorities emphasized that the campaign targets quality-of-life crimes and aims to curb violent crime and the proliferation of illegal firearms.
The Sheriff’s Department indicated that Operation Consequences will continue in the coming months, with an increased presence of law enforcement across the region. The campaign is part of a broader strategy to disrupt criminal street gangs and apprehend individuals engaged in illicit activities. Personnel involved in the operation included members of the California Highway Patrol and various Sheriff’s Department divisions.
Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus underscored the importance of collaborative enforcement operations in safeguarding local communities and addressing the root causes of crime in the region.
