The search for 14-year-old Olivia Hanson, last seen in Milwaukee, has reached its eleventh day, with growing concern for her safety. Hanson was reported missing since April 17 at around 8:30 p.m., near 88th and Vienna, elevating her case to critically missing status, reported FOX6 News. The missing teenager had traveled from southern Illinois to start mental health treatment at Lad Lake, a Milwaukee facility, before she vanished, her mother said.
Hanson's mother, fervently distributing flyers and reaching out to organizations, told WISN 12 News, "We got on the phone with every organization we could possibly think of to get her face out there. We are out here night and day." Describing her daughter's challenges with trauma, she expressed that the chosen facility was believed to be a place where Olivia could receive the help she needed.
Milwaukee Police have shared a description of Hanson: a white female, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. On the day of her disappearance she was seen wearing a black jacket with red stripes, black pajama pants, and black Crocs, as noted by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Police and community members continue to follow leads in the hope of locating her.
The undertaking of the search by the police and local community highlights the urgency of finding Hanson. The prolonged disappearance intensifies the distress for her family and volunteers participating in the search. "She has dealt with a lot of trauma herself, and that's why I thought this facility was designed to help children deal with the things that she's gone through," Hanson's mother recounted, her determination palpable in an interview with WISN 12 News.
