The Seattle Police Department, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, took action against the gatherings, which were drawing hundreds of racers and onlookers eager for a piece of the high-octane spectacle.
According to a police statement, intentions were detected that participants might coordinate outside of city limits before zooming their way into Seattle's heart to engage in these illicit activities. Operating units from the Community Response Group (CRG) and the West Precinct responded strategically to put the brakes on the street races in key locations near Lumen Field, Costco, Pier 55, and Home Depot in the SoDo district. Officers slapped several violators with traffic stops amid the chaos in their mission to douse the illegal events.
The Seattle Police Department reported that the participants dispersed, scattering to jurisdictions beyond Seattle's control. However, legal repercussions continue to loom, as the department is keen on mailing citations to those who tried to skirt the law with their high-speed antics.
