Controlled burns are not just about scorching the earth. They are about creating a strategic buffer, and Rochelle Sherlock, Project Administrator of the Green Valley Shaded Fuel Break, has underscored their significance. "This proactive measure aims to reduce hazardous vegetation, enhance ecosystem health and minimize the risk of catastrophic wildfires," she stated, as per CAL FIRE LNU. Executing this operation is a tandem effort with the Green Valley Fire Safe Council. It will be conducted in concert with local fire agencies and the Solano County Office of Emergency Services.
Travelers traversing the vicinity of upper Green Valley Road, Rockville Road, and McCready Court during the prescribed burn are advised to proceed with extra caution, as sightlines may be compromised. "Controlled burns are a critical tool for protecting communities and restoring forest resilience," explained CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Robert Wettstein, per CAL FIRE LNU.
