The City of St. Augustine’s Historic Preservation Division is hosting an interactive window restoration workshop at The Waterworks Building, 184 San Marco Avenue, as part of the St. Augustine History Festival. Scheduled for May 10, the event will focus on sash window restoration, with support from city officials and restoration experts.
According to the City of St. Augustine’s website, the workshop will begin with welcome remarks from the City’s Historic Preservation Officer, Julie Courtney. Historic Preservation Advisors from Austin Historical will lead the sessions, with Doug Romaine presenting in the main room and Nate Cross demonstrating restoration techniques.
At 10:15 a.m., a hands-on segment will be offered to a group of 15 participants who will practice glazing skills on the windows of The Waterworks. Reservations are required for this portion of the event, and space is limited. The presentation and live demonstration are open to all attendees, and no registration is needed for general observation.
The hands-on session is planned for outdoors, but if weather conditions require, it will be moved indoors. According to the announcement, the event will proceed rain or shine. Interested participants are encouraged to register online to secure a spot in the hands-on portion.
