A man who was reportedly making criminal threats and had brandished a weapon was arrested in Los Angeles on Tuesday after leading police on a chase that spanned several freeways. According to a KTLA report, the suspect was under surveillance by the Alhambra Police Department when the pursuit began just after 11:00 a.m.

Officials detailed that the chase started near 2121 West Main Street when the man, under observation from prior reports of threats made the day before, refused to stop his vehicle for officers. With assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Helicopter, police were able to track the suspect across multiple freeways while aiming to minimize potential danger to the public.

The suspect eventually abandoned his car and attempted to escape on foot in a residential area of Los Angeles. Alhambra police, together with support from the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, established a perimeter and carried out a search operation. The man was arrested on the 400 block of South New Hampshire Avenue in L.A.'s Koreatown neighborhood, as per an announcement by the City of Alhambra.

No injuries were reported during the incident, according to authorities. A photo shared on the Alhambra PD’s Instagram depicted a K9 officer and a dog next to an unloaded semi-automatic 9mm, which is believed to have been recovered from the suspect. The firearm, however, was not mentioned in the initial news release. Police have yet to release information about the suspect's identity or further details concerning the criminal threats. Community members with information related to the investigation are urged to contact Sergeant Henry Reyes at 626-308-4820 or the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-8477 for those wishing to remain anonymous.
