A mobile home in Arlington Township near Bangor was consumed by flames last night, an incident that claimed the lives of two dogs and obliterated two residences, one of which was under construction. According to WOOD TV, the fire was reported at a location on 38th Avenue near 48th Street.

The occupants of the mobile home detected the distinct smell of smoke, and the crackling noise, alerting them to the danger. They escaped unharmed and sought help from a neighbor to contact emergency services. Responding around 10:30 p.m., firefighters from the Bangor Community Fire Department were soon at the scene, as reported by MLive. Due to the remote location, water had to be transported to the site to extinguish the fire, presenting a logistical challenge for the firefighting efforts.

South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) confirmed that the two structures were completely destroyed in the blaze. The adjacent structure, still under construction, also succumbed to the fast-spreading flames. Fox 17 Online shared details on the mutual aid received from nearby departments including Paw Paw, Columbia Township, and Van Buren EMS, which joined the effort alongside SHAES responders.

While the occupants were able to escape, their two dogs did not survive the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
