
A tragic event unfolded in Gig Harbor as a house fire claimed two lives yesterday evening, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Blog. The inferno, described as fully engulfed, took place in the 15500 block of 14th Ave. NW, drawing a rapid response from the Pierce County Deputies and Gig Harbor Fire.
Emergency services, who were swiftly called to the newly rented residence around 8:00 pm, were met with a blazing structure. Neighbors are accounted to have heard a "large explosion" just before the house succumbed to the flames, as per the official PCSO Blotter post. While attempting to restrain the ferocious fire, firefighters made a grim discovery – two individuals deceased inside the home.
One of the victims has been confirmed as male, though the identities of both remain undisclosed pending examination by the medical examiner. Determination of their identities and cause of death is to follow. The PCSO Blotter report further states that both victims are being transferred to the medical examiner’s office as part of ongoing investigations.
Detectives accompanied by forensic teams have been on the scene, trying to piece together the circumstances that led to the suspicious blaze and the untimely deaths.
