A chaotic scene unfolded in the Bronx yesterday when a man, driving a vehicle reported as stolen earlier that day, crashed into a row of parked cars while evading police. The incident left two people injured, including 66-year-old Robert Perez, who was sitting in one of the vehicles struck. "I was grateful and thankful I had no broken or fractured bones. So the impact was so hard I mean, I don't know if I blacked out," Perez shared with ABC7 New York after the crash that took place near Seward Avenue and Rosedale Avenue.

The collision, which reportedly pushed one car onto a sidewalk and damaged at least two others, left witnesses and victims shaken. Oscar Sanchez, waking up to a phone call, found his 2025 Honda Pilot TravelSport—a recent purchase from hard work and dedication, as he described to News 12—totally wrecked and missing items that included $5,000 worth of jewelry and collectibles.

According to local authorities, after the stolen car was no longer drivable from the havoc it wrought, the perpetrator fled the scene on foot. He was, however, apprehended shortly afterward by police near the Soundview Public Houses. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Angel Colon, who now faces charges including grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, as per police statements.

"I'm shocked. I'll probably feel the pain later. I'm more in shock," said another victim, preferring anonymity, when she returned to assess the damage to her car, which now had a hatch that refused to close. In a scene described by local youth Alvin Perez, 10, who overheard the speeding car before witnessing the crash, he told ABC7 New York, "I was just sitting there playing with my toys, and then I heard, like, a car scurrying and then I just saw the car come over here and crash into another car over there, then the guy that stole the car, he ran. He ran and went over there. And the police started chasing him."

Fortunately, the event did not result in any children being harmed as none were playing outside at the time of the incident. The community has reacted with shock and is calling for greater awareness to prevent unexpected dangers, reflecting Sanchez's words to News 12 after his loss: "No respect. Honestly, we’re going to have to be more alert."
