Upper Darby saw the conclusion of a manhunt that began late last year, with the U.S. Marshals bringing into custody one Orvin Alexis Lopez Torres. He's the Honduran national who has been on the wanted list since the November 28 incident. This past week, the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force was able to track down and arrest Torres without any incident.
It was on a quiet street in Upper Darby, in the 7200 block of Spruce Street, to be exact, where Torres was found hiding. The arrest took place today, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service. Notably, Torres is wanted for a violent double stabbing that rattled the local community. The task force moved quickly to decisively arrest Torres after receiving intel on his whereabouts on April 8.
Further complicating Torres's legal situation is his immigration status. Officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who serve on the task force, determined that Torres was in the country unlawfully. An ICE detainer was promptly placed on him, and ICE expects to take him into custody through the detainer following his release from Delaware County Prison.
"The Marshals Service is committed to ensuring public safety," Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark noted, emphasizing the importance of holding violent fugitives accountable. "And violent fugitives must be held accountable regardless of their nationality," Clark further stated in the press release.
