
The Sertoma Arts Center in Raleigh has announced a series of new art classes and workshops for the upcoming season. Leading the lineup is "Imagination Station," where instructor Sarah Clover will guide children aged 5 to 11 through activities in drawing, painting, sculpture, and more. This six-session program begins next Tuesday and runs every Tuesday until June 10, from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The fee is $101 for residents and $116 for non-residents, with all supplies included, according to the Center’s announcement.
Instructor Ann Terry will lead the "Youth and Teen Bead Club" on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The workshop fee is $15 for all participants, regardless of residency status. Attendees will learn techniques for making beaded jewelry and practicing various bead stitches, with all materials provided for the session.
Teens interested in developing their drawing skills can join Sarah Clover for "Sketchbook Drawing for Teens," held over six Tuesdays from next Tuesday to June 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. The cost is $106 for residents and $121 for non-residents. The course will cover techniques including contour drawing, gesture drawing, and the development of personal style, with all necessary supplies provided.
For those interested in historical dance, Larkke and Michael Flood will instruct "Medieval Dance," a free program open to individuals aged 10 and older. Classes begin April 13 and continue every other Tuesday through August 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. No prior dance experience is required.
Finally, adults and older teens can enroll in "Beginning Metals" with instructor Sarah West. This course, open to individuals aged 16 and older, runs on Saturdays from this Saturday through June 7, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $146 for residents and $161 for non-residents. Students will learn fundamental metalwork techniques for creating their own jewelry pieces.
