UNLV baseball lost the final game of their series against UNR at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, with a final score of 4-2. The defeat dropped the Rebels to a 16-15 overall record and left them at 4-8 in the Mountain West conference, according to UNLV Rebels.
The UNLV Rebels fell short against UNR, losing by two runs in the final inning. Despite out-hitting UNR 8-7 and recording more strikeouts, the Rebels were unable to capitalize on key opportunities. After taking an early lead, they saw UNR score four consecutive runs to reclaim the advantage, as detailed by BVM Sports. In the final inning, the Rebels' attempt to rally was thwarted by UNR’s Ethan O'Neal, who secured the win with crucial outs.
Head Coach Stan Stolte said, "Can't score just two runs on a Sunday in the MWC and expect to get the win," after UNLV's loss, as mentioned by UNLV Rebels. The Rebels now prepare for a two-game homestand against Utah Valley starting on Monday, aiming to improve their performance in Mountain West play.
