The city of Upper Arlington will participate in the statewide Light Ohio Blue campaign this May, an annual event recognizing the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers, both those who have died in the line of duty and the men and women who currently serve our communities. During the campaign, which will run from May 7 to May 17 this year, Ohio residents are encouraged to show their support by displaying blue exterior lights on their homes.
As announced on the official City of Upper Arlington website, the 2025 Light Ohio Blue Caravan is set to pass through the city on May 7, bringing an impressive procession of 150-200 law enforcement vehicles through the streets of UA, beginning their journey from Hilliard, Ohio, forging a path along Fishinger Road, then forging north on Tremont Road, where they will stream past the Municipal Services Center which will glow with blue lights in solidarity with the event, and finally, they will journey toward the iconic OSU Stadium to culminate the demonstration.
Residents are not only being invited to witness this significant event, they're also being encouraged to actively participate by changing their exterior lights to blue in a community-wide display of support. According to the City’s announcement, "The City will be lighting up the MSC with blue exterior lighting, and we encourage residents along the route to also consider switching out one or more of their exterior lights with blue bulbs as our community’s show of support."
This visible act of acknowledgment and remembrance reflects a shared moment for the community, solidifying connections between the public and the often perilous duty of those in law enforcement; it is a moment of reflection, of gratitude, it is a commitment to remembering those who can't be there to see the cerulean tribute shining in the night. A section of the route specifically highlighted will see cruisers encircle the OSU Stadium in a final, resonant homage to their colleagues and the families of the fallen, signaling an end but also a reminder of the continuous service given by officers across the state of Ohio, and beyond.
