A Virginia man has been slapped with multiple felony charges following his alleged role in several armed road rage incidents in Maryland. The Maryland State Police have charged Perry Ellis Barmore, a 34-year-old resident of Alexandria, Virginia, in connection with two separate violent encounters that occurred on Maryland highways, with one involving a firearm being brandished and the other a shooting, according to a statement from the Maryland State Police.
The first incident, a reported firearm brandishing on February 25, involved the accused driving a gray Jeep and pointing a firearm at another driver on the outer loop of Interstate 495, near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Following this report, troopers responded, and an intensive investigation by the Highway Gun Crimes Initiative led to Barmore being charged with felony use of a firearm, along with two counts of second-degree assault. A search warrant executed at his Virginia home by the Alexandria Police Department resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun, and Barmore was arrested and placed under home detention on March 14.
Further investigation revealed Barmore's alleged connection to a second, earlier road rage incident that occurred on August 24, 2024. The victim in this encounter reported being shot at by the driver of a gray Jeep on Maryland Route 202 near White House Road, although there were no injuries recorded. Maryland State Apprehension Team, with assistance from the United States Marshal’s Service – Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, apprehended Barmore last Friday in Virginia, following a felony arrest warrant. Charges against him include attempted murder, felony assault, and additional firearm-related offenses, as he awaits possible extradition to Maryland.
