The Northern Community Food Security Team (NCFST) and Ripe for Revival are bringing their mobile grocery market back to Wake Forest on Thursday. According to the Town of Wake Forest release, the market will be located across from the Northern Regional Center at 350 E. Holding Ave. and will operate every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 3-4:30 p.m., rain or shine. The market will offer fresh food items such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy sourced from local farms.
The AmeriHealth Caritas NC Mobile Wellness Center will also be on-site, providing blood pressure screenings and offering Wi-Fi, computer/printer access, and charging stations. They will also provide information on Medicaid. Additionally, El Pueblo, Inc. will distribute resources for the Hispanic and Latino community.
The mobile market uses a pay-what-you-can pricing system. Shoppers can buy fresh produce without restrictions, but there are purchase limits for certain items like proteins, dairy, and eggs. At checkout, customers are given a suggested total and can choose to pay more, less, or the full amount.
Last year, the mobile market served 1,574 people and sold 9,178 lbs. of produce, 3,027 lbs. of protein, and 399 lbs. of dry goods. Payments are accepted in both cash and card.
