Heads up, West Allis residents – it's time to clamp down those toilet lids. According to an announcement from your local Public Works crew, they will be deploying their high-pressure water jets throughout the city this week to clean out the sewers. The process is designed to clear out the muck and blockages that can lead to troublesome backups and reduced wastewater flow.
Residents in the targeted neighborhoods may experience side effects from the high-pressure sewer jetting, including rattling toilets or unexpected water spray. To prevent this, it is recommended to keep toilet lids closed during the scheduled maintenance. Those living in jetting zones should be prepared for possible noise and secure their toilet lids to avoid any water displacement caused by the pressure in the pipes.
According to the official schedule released last Thursday, West Allis crews are set to conduct high-pressure sewer jetting during specific time slots. From 8 to 10 a.m., work will take place on 96th to 98th Street between Rogers and Burnham. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., crews will focus on 96th Street between Grant and Rogers, followed by work on 95th Street between National and Becher from 1 to 3 p.m. Residents in these areas are advised to keep toilet lids closed during these times to avoid any unintended water spray due to the maintenance.
