Wilmington Police have apprehended four individuals on firearms charges, stemming from monthslong probes into illegal gun possession and vehicle thefts. According to the department's announcement, the arrests occurred in the 1800 block of North Washington Street on Wednesday, following a surveillance operation by the Gun Intelligence Unit.
The investigation, which targeted the named locality, climaxed around midday when authorities executed a search warrant. Arrested were 21-year-old Tamir Knotts; 19-year-olds Lashaun Bradley, Ayden Drummond, and shortly after, Naim Benson. The four were taken into custody without any reported altercations. Among the haul, police catalogued a loaded 5.56 caliber rifle, three loaded 9mm handguns, in addition, significant quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
Each man faces specific charges linked to the recovery of weapons and illicit substances. Tamir Knotts has been singled out with the charge of receiving a stolen firearm. Following his arraignment at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Knotts was released on a relatively modest $2,000 unsecured bail. The conditions of the other three men's custody and charges have not been made public at the time of writing.
