
The Monroe County community reels from a recent drive-by shooting that left two individuals wounded and a 15-year-old boy in custody, charged with assault with intent to murder, FOX 2 Detroit reports. The incident occurred Saturday night, May 10, outside Charring Square Apartments in Monroe, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
A tan 2002 Honda Civic with several passengers was seen leaving the 6200 block of Greenwycke Lane shortly after a shooting around 8:45 p.m., police said. Deputy Austin Graham stopped the car after it turned onto South Dixie Highway. Video and witness statements confirmed the car was involved, but the suspected shooter had already run away on foot before it left, according to CBS News Detroit.
The suspected shooter, whose name has not been released due to his age, was located at his residence following a search warrant in the 6100 block of Greenwycke Lane. Upon taking him into custody, detectives lodged him at the Monroe County Youth Center, facing three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, as noted by 13abc. The two people who were shot during the incident were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, with Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough confirming, "The victims are currently in stable condition."
The investigation into the shooting is being handled by Michigan State Police, the Monroe Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim's Services Unit, as per FOX 2 Detroit.
